How to Apply for the Citizenship Program
A structured 8-step process from eligibility confirmation to passport issuance.
Confirm Eligibility
The main applicant must be at least 18 years of age, of good character, and have a verifiable source of funds that meets AML compliance standards. Applicants with restricted nationalities or complex residence histories should confirm eligibility before proceeding.
Select an Authorized Licensed Agent
Applications cannot be submitted directly to the CIU. All applications must be submitted through an Authorized Licensed Agent — a firm or individual officially approved and registered by the CIU.
Choose the Investment Route
Select from the Sustainable Island State Contribution (SISC), Public Benefit Option (PBO), approved St. Kitts and Nevis real estate development, or approved private real estate — condominium or private home.
Prepare the Citizenship Application
Your agent will guide you through the St. Kitts passport requirements, including passport copies, civil records, financial statements, source of funds documentation, residence permits where applicable, and supporting documents for all included dependents.
Due Diligence & Background Checks
The CIU conducts thorough due diligence checks on all applicants including AML compliance and background screening via international third-party providers. Dependents aged 16 and above are also screened.
Mandatory Interview
The main applicant must attend a mandatory interview — virtual or in-person — as required by the CIU. Dependents aged 16 or above may also be required to attend if deemed necessary by the CIU.
Approval in Principle & Investment Payment
Following successful due diligence and interview, the CIU issues an Approval in Principle. The qualifying investment and applicable government fees are then paid, typically after this stage, depending on the chosen route.
Certificate of Registration & Biometric E-Passport
The CIU issues a Certificate of Registration confirming citizenship. Applicants and dependents complete biometric enrolment, after which the St. Kitts and Nevis passport is issued.

To qualify for St. Kitts and Nevis citizenship by investment, all main applicants must meet the following criteria.
At Least 18 Years Old
The main applicant must be a legal adult at the time of application.
Valid Passport
A valid passport from your country of nationality is required.
Sufficient Funds
Proof of financial ability to meet the required minimum investment threshold.

Clean Criminal Record
A clean criminal record is mandatory for all main applicants and included dependants.
Pass Due Diligence Checks
Government-mandated background checks conducted by independent international screening firms.
Good Health
Applicants must be in good health at the time of application submission.
Mandatory Interview
Main applicant must attend a CIU-required interview. Dependents aged 16+ may also be required to attend.
Who Cannot Apply

Standard Timeline (Estimated)
Typical processing window including due diligence review and interview scheduling.
Extended in Complex Cases
Cases requiring additional due diligence, supplementary documents, or complex nationality histories may take longer.

For applicants seeking asset ownership alongside citizenship, the real estate route combines a qualifying investment with potential long-term value.

Investment in a CIU-approved development project. Subject to a 7-year holding period before the property may be resold without affecting citizenship status. Suitable for investors seeking managed property ownership.
